What is STEGLATRO?
+

STEGLATRO is a prescription pill used in adults with type 2 diabetes to improve blood sugar (glucose) control along with diet and exercise. STEGLATRO is not for people with type 1 diabetes. It may increase the risk of diabetic ketoacidosis in these people.

How STEGLATRO Works

STEGLATRO helps your kidneys remove some sugar.

See below to learn how STEGLATRO helps your kidneys get rid of some sugar from your body and flush it out through your body’s process of urination.

Welcome to the Kidneys

Welcome to the kidneys

The kidneys act as a filter for the blood in your body. They filter out waste, and also some nutrients. Then, they return back to the bloodstream the nutrients you need, including sugar for energy, and send the waste into the urine.

When You Have Type 2 Diabetes

The kidneys and type 2 diabetes

If you have type 2 diabetes, you have too much sugar in your blood. Your kidneys will filter out waste and some sugar, but they will also allow some sugar to return to your bloodstream and body.

How STEGLATRO can help!

STEGLATRO helps lower blood sugar levels by reducing the amount of sugar the kidneys return to the bloodstream and increasing the amount of sugar that is removed from the body through the urine. So over time, when you go, so does some sugar, which may help you lower your A1C.
